I think that they are celebrating Singapore national day and as well as celebrating a birthday for the person in the middle. As I can see that they are a lot of participants in the background. And I can see that most of the participants are wearing a cap, with number 30 on it. And most of them are holding a Singapore flag in their hands. So, I think that they are celebrating Singapore’s 30th birthday and there is so many people because they are there to celebrate too. And the person in the middle is holding a cake. So, I think that her birthday in on that day too. That is why, she is celebrating it.
I think that the two people beside the participant in the middle are her family member. So, I think that the person in the middle is very fortunate to have a birthday celebration during Singapore’s national day. And her family members are celebrating it for her. And I can see that she is very elated.
I can see that many people are carrying an umbrella with them. And I think that they are probably sheltering themselves from the direct sunlight as it is very warm.

I think that the participants in the picture are attempting the low elements which I think is the 'spider web'. I think that those participants are probably having some outdoor activities and having a camp at the same time as I can see that the background has trees, and the foreground has grass. I can also see that there is a tent in the background too.
I think that the person attempting the low element is trying very hard and having a hard time to pass through it. The participants on the right and the background seem to be helpful as I can see that they are trying to help the person attempting the low element to pass through. I also can see that they having an outdoor team-building game as I can see that there is team work and cooperation between them. They cooperate together and help each other out. Because the participants on the right and the back is helping the participant attempting the 'spider web' to pass through. And they will know each other better. I can see that they are having a lot of fun and very engaged in this team building game.

summary

Today Janina Pietrasiak and Maria Lopuszanska live like sisters. They meet daily and help each other out. They both were not very rich. They sheltered Janina and her mother. After Janina's father died of tuberculosis, she clung desperately to her new family.She can increase her chance of survival with the Nazis not detecting or killing them. She even gave up the chance to go to United States to live with her uncle. The girls had to fend for themselves as maria's father was sick and her mother was against the Nazis. Janina is hurt the most and suffered depression as, her parents died and her only silbling commited suicide by inhaling gas. Maria infected breast cancer and she had children, later, she became a widow. she was recgnosed as a rescuer.

a time when i felt unloved

When I was small, there was a time when I fought with my younger brother, because he spoils my things. After that, I was really angry and scolded him and even beat him. He beat me back too. When mummy come and ask what happened, I said that it was his fault to spoil my things and my brother says it was my fault. Mummy, without understanding the situation, scolded me and never scolds my brother.
I was very upset and locked myself in the room. I wrote everything in my diary. I hated my mummy at that moment of time because it is not fully my fault and mummy never scolds brother. And inside my heart, I feel that my mummy does not love me anymore.
But now I can see that my mummy love me very much. So, I think that mummy never scold brother because he was still small, and will spoil things easily.

HIT-AND-RUN

An incident accured today during the peek hour, around 5.30 p.m. at CTE.

21 years old, gordon, and the other 18 years old, steven, was both so young and was the victim of the accident.

26 years old, Ms Jane Tan, an eye-witness and a student said, '' It all happened so fast!'', she was also sure that she saw two cars. 40 years old, Inspector Abdul Rahman said, '' There were streams of blood on the road!'', he was shocked by what was left of the motorcycle. And, 36 years old, Mdm Moliam Bte Ismail, a housewife who was one of the passenger in one of the cars said, '' All i heard was a big bang!'', she was unsure what caused the accident.

45-year-old, Policeman, Inspector Raijv Kumar said,"The blast claimed three lives." He also said that they are still investigating the cause of the explosion.

When interviewed, Inspector Rahman advised drivers to drive carefully and, not to talk on the handphone when driving.

Ms Jane, says that, '' If you are involved in an accident, the first thing you need to do is call the police. Do not attempt to move your car as this is evidence. Moving your car may result in a void claim, as supporting evidence will be lost if you are not at fault. While waiting for the police to arrive, exchange details with the other driver. Always have a notebook and a pen in the glove box of your car, you never know when you might need a piece of paper to scribble something important down! Information you will need from the other driver is - vehicle registration number, drivers name and address, insurance provider with policy number and their driving license number.''.

PROPOSAL FOR DEVELOPMENT OF PULAU UBIN

I, the president of green plan 2012 club, is sending in my proposal regarding the development of Pulau Ubin.
I have interviewed a number of residents and collated their views. One of the resident, Madam Chan Ah MUi (aged 45, former owner of a kiosk for bicycle rental) says that though you have a good bus service, roads and infrastructure, to make the places around more accessible, you should also need cycling tracks and nature trails.
Another resident, Mr Mohamad Ismail Bin Adam (Headman of the island, aged 74) Says that you should build a clinic and a school there as it is inconvenient for his grandchildren to take a bumboat to the mainland.
A resident, Mr chandran Mohan (aged 20, polytechnic students) considers that pulau ubin should be transformed into a 21th century New Town and can enjoy the best of both world, shopping facilities, nature at the doorsteps. A relaxed way of life.
Mrs Tan Li Lin (aged 32, housewife and part time hawker assistant) says that, there should be reliable water supplies. And she hopes to start a coffee stall as there is a lot of campers and day tripers. And good water supply is important.
Melvin koh ( aged 16, 'o' level student) says that all this will destroy the natural beauty of the island. He says that you should preserve Chak Jawa, the pride of pulau ubin, as a natural reserve.
I hope that you can develop Chek Jawa with the wishes, needs and concerns of the five residents as soon as possible. Hope to get your response soon. Thank You.

Caught in a storm

Remembering a time when i was young, i was rather scared of thunders and lightnings. There was a time when big cauliflower clouds were boiling up and i seem to be wearing an ominous cap of cloud. Not long, i heard thunder boomed in the distance and after a while, the storm eased. later, down came the pouring rain.
The second storm exploded on me in a chaos of wind, water and noise. There was a earsplitting crack and the air is filled with screams, including mine. At last, i saw a blinding flash and lightning hammered down. I can smell the smell of fear at that moment of time.

natural disaster

On sunday, 9:42 a.m, a powerful eartquake, magnitude-6.9, struck KANAZAWA, japan. It killed at least one person and injuring 170 others as it toppled buildings, triggered landslides, cut power, interfered with phone service, broke water mains and snarled public transportationand and sparked a small tsunami along the coast. The tsunami was measured 6 inches and hit the shore 36 minutes later after the quake.
Later, the quake showed buildinds violently shaking for 30 seconds. Some buildinds were collapsed, windows of shops were, streets cluttered with roof tiles and roads with cracked pavement. Some said that inside their house was a mess, with everything smashed on the floor. And many was injured. Many of the injured were knocked down by the shaking or hurt by falling objects and broken galss.
And again, in october 2004, a magnitude-6.8 earthquake hit northern Japan, killing 40 people and damaging more than 6,000 homes. It was the deadliest to hit Japan since 1995, when a magnitude-7.2 quake killed 6,433 people in the western city of Kobe.

terrorism

Task: On your own personal blog, discuss your views on terrorism. How is it affecting you - are you afraid? What will you do about this matter? (150 words)
After reading these two articles, i think that, terrorism does not only affected me. It also affects my family members, friends and relatives. It affects me because, if there is terrorism, i need to be more careful when i go out. Not really safe when i am outside in public. Because, we do not really know where the terrorist is hiding and doing.
I'm afraid of terrorism because terrorism is a scary thing and terrorists are scary creatures. They are cruel, selfish and scary. Cruel in the sense that they kill innocent people when ever, where ever they want. Selfish in the sense that, they do not think about others. And scary in the sense that they do all this scary things.
Look out for the terrorist. Call police immediately if i see the terrorist. Every one need to do this so that our country would be free from the terrorists - cruel, scary and selfish creatures

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT FROM YOUR READING AND RESEARCH?
I have learnt that polar bears have black skin under their furs to store heat from the sunlight. Their furs are hollow. Their fur colour is yellow because of the reflection of the sunlight or the oil stained because of oil spilling in the sea. They feeds on seals. They are hunted for their paws and furs for Chinese medicines and coats from their furs. During short summers, they use their stored fats to keep them warm. They spend most of their time roaming on ice, finding mates, hunting for their own food and denning for them to keep their self warm. Their webbed paws helps them in their swimming. Their population have decreased over the years, they are almost going to be extinct if hunting, global warming and greenhouse effects continues.They are also harasses by the photographers and tourist that wants to get closer to them.

HOW HAVE YOUR PERSPECTIVES CHANGE DURING THE COURSE OF YOUR READING AND RESEARCH?
Before reading all this article, i did not have much knowledge about the hunters but after reading it, i gained much knowledge about them. I Thought that they can anyhow anywhere build an igloo but i was wrong, they need to be very careful on where they build it because of the current in the sea. If they build on the wrong place, the whole sea ice and the igloo will crack which is due to the current flow of the sea water. I was only aware that the polar bear hunt for food and was not aware that they
roam on the floating ice and they find their mates. I was also not aware that they are annoyed about the photographers and tourists until i read the article.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT THE CURRENT SITUATION?(YOUR FEELINGS/ OPINION/ COMMENTS)
I feel that the hunters are very cruel. I feel that we should all take a part in helping the polar bears from being extinct by reducing, reusing and recycling. Reduce the number of trees being cutted down, the amount of things being burnt because all these will produce carbon dioxide.

What have i learnt from the reading and research?

After reading this article from the website, i have learnt that the polar bears spend most of their times roaming on the floating ice, finding mates and hunt the seals for food. The article states that the polar bears will maybe be extinct in 2050.

how have my perspectives change during the course of my reading and research?

Before reading it, i was only aware that they hunt for food and was not aware that thay roam on the floating ice and they find their mates.

What are my thoughts about the current situation?( my feelings/ opinions/ comments)

I think that the polar bear will extinct faster.

How can i help in anyway to play a part to improve the current situation?

Help in reducing, reusing and recycling. Help to reduce carbon dioxide produced and global warming.

what are my suggestions for further improvement? how will this make the world a better place?
Reduce carbon dioxide so that the air will be less polluted and this can save the world's environment. Reduce the cutting of trees because when plants dies, they produce carbon dioxide which will pollute the environment. Reduce burning of fuels because heat will be trapped in the atmosphere and the world will be very hot.

Polar bears

I have learnt that Polar bears are among the largest predators in the whole wide world. Their fur colors turns from pure white to a yellowish colour resulted from the sunlight or staining by oil from the sea by oil spilling. Their skin, nose and lips are black in color to trap heat from the sun. Their fur is thicker than any other bears. Their furs even covers their feet, for warmth and for friction on the ice.
They are highly depend on thicker ice in the region as it can withstand their weight, polar bears spend much of their time on ice hunting for foods, mating and denning for their homes and to keep them warmth. Pregnant polar bears need to eat a lot in the summer and fall in order to build up sufficient fat reserves for surviving the denning period.
Climate change, causes the loss of thick sea ice and it thins the thick ice. If the ice are thinned, it will not be able to carry the weight of the polar bear. And there will also be lesser and lesser sea ice for the polar bears. Loss of sea ice leads to higher shortage of food. This causes the population of the polar bears to decrease a lot as there is insufficient food for all of the polar bears living there.
This can eventually lead to conflicts between people and bears and lethal removal of the bear. Illegal killing of bears also remains another factor causing their decline.

They should stop all the illegal killings of the polar bears as the population is decreasing and it will cause tham to extinct.

what have i learnt from from the reading and research?

I have learnt that the polar bears have black skin to obtain the heat from the sun. Polar bears are carnivores, they feed on seals. Their webbed paws allows them to swim. The population of the polar bear have decreased because of greenhouse effects, global warming, climate changes and hunting. Before i read this article, i did not know that polar bears feed on seal i thought that polar bears feed non fishes. I also did not know that polar bears are annoyed by the photographers and the tourists that wants to get closer to them.

After reading the article, i feel that polar bears should not be hunted for their paws for medicines or furs for coats because they are already under population. Therefore i think that hunters should stop hunting for polar bears of the under population of the polar bears. If hunters continues the activity of hunting the polar bear, polar bear will get extinct very fast.

hunting for polar bears

After reading this article, i learnt that hunters enjoy hunting polar bears. When hunters are preparing for a hunt, the hunters has to be equipped with all necessary equipments such as tent and food etc. They need to prepare everything before they go for their hunting.When they have finished preparing, they will go to the sea ice to start their hunting of the polar bear. When the weather is going to be not good for them to hunt, they will have to stay in the igloo as the tent will be too cold for them.They will need to be careful when they build their igloos because of the current in the sea water. If the current is too strong, the whole sea ice floor will crack and so will the igloo. So, they will have to be careful of the current in the sea water. When they got to an area where there are bears, they will have to look for signs of bears climbing up onto the ice from the water.

From the article, i learnt that Polar bears are among the largest members of the bear family. Their white coat is actually made of hollow hairs that reflects the sunlight, producing a white or yellow colour camouflaging in their habitat. Polar bears mate between April and May. Cubs are born about every three years, generally in litters of two.At birth, the cubs weigh approximately one and a half pounds.Males can grow to weigh as much as 1,000 pounds and reach 11 feet in length. Polar bears are carnivores, feeding primarily on Arctic ringed seals. Their partially webbed paws allow them/ to swim, at a pace of six miles per hour, for up to 60 miles without rest. They live and hunt on frozen ice floes during winter months, and survive on berries and stored fat when the short summer thaw forces them onto land, rendering seals inaccessible. The causes for the decreasing of population is that there are lesser sea ice, the hunting and capture for public display , climate change , environmental contaminants and chemical pollutants.
After reading this article, i know that the polar bears mating seasons,their weight and their swimming pace.
Polar bears are so heavy. They swim very fast.
